God working amidst my chaos

“All honor and glory be unto thee, O Father!”

Alright, with countdown to baby Owen around the corner and SO MUCH left to do on the house, I’m going to keep this post short and to the point. My intention isn’t to rob any of the praise that the Lord is due, but rather to be a good steward of the time I have left. Average bedtime has been 2 am trying to get everything settled… If only I could be pregnant for one more month!!!

First, let’s go back and visit the yard sale we had in April. We actually ended up making more than we originally had posted- $500 more to be exact! A sweet couple from church reached out to us and said they had nothing to contribute, but that they would send out a text to some friends to see if they wanted to help us out. The result was a friend of a friend passing along a $500 check, closing out our “Yard Sale Fundraiser” earnings to just over $2000! Praise the Lord!!

Speaking of revisiting previous fundraisers, God used our September “Worship Concert Fundraiser” just a few days after the yard sale came to a close. Unknown to me, a girl who attended our concert brought along a new friend who had just moved into town. This “new friend” just so happened to work for a local news station and -7 months later- reached out to us saying that one of the anchors wanted to do a story on the products we sell in order to fund our adoption. WHAT?! Mind you, I was 8.5 months pregnant and in the middle of moving, BUT if an opportunity presented itself I was NOT going to turn it down. So just 2 days after we moved in, in the middle of my maze of boxes and jungle of a front yard, the news crew came over and did a little segment on our adoption. This also contributed to a few donations and sales, SO FAR totaling to around $150. And yes, it WAS worth it! Although they didn’t capture my entire story in the clip, the need for adoption was made known and I pray that the viewers were able to see a kind and good God at the heart of it. After the segment aired, ANOTHER selfless friend reached out and asked me to come back as a vendor at her annual women’s ministry event (that is, if I hadn’t gone into labor yet). With less than 2 weeks until my due date, nothing could have made me happier than having just one more opportunity to fight for my babies! It was a beautiful, God-honoring evening that was full of blessing all around! I was able to set up a booth of our handmade goods and made another $200! (Shout out to the MOMentum Network! I wish I could upload one of their videos so that you’d understand the heart of their ministry. If you’d like to learn more about them, click here.)

momentum

This brought my total adoption earnings to $2,350 in ONE month! I feel like God is sending me off on a maternity leave with a generous reminder of “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” Recognizing that these gifts come from such unexpected resources, I definitely do not take ANY of them for granted!

I’ll be taking the next month or two off {from fundraising and blogging} to focus on adjusting well to life as a family of 4. However, I do plan on having a virtual fundraiser in the month of July or August! So out-of-towners, this one is for you! It will be one of our last big pushes before we start applying for grants and proceed with our home-study. The ball should really start rolling quickly at that point, so please be praying about if God can use YOU to be a part of our story!

Again, I want to reiterate that although this post only contains little snip-it’s of God’s faithfulness (and I’m sure tons of type-o’s), it isn’t a reflection of the level of gratitude we feel to the Giver of all gifts. No words will ever describe the JOY we feel knowing that this past month’s earnings could have ONLY come from God. Our calendar has simply been too chaotic to initiate any of it. Despite our shortcomings, lack of time and strength, The Lord has used this season to make His presence known– A reminder that He is ALWAYS in this, despite where we may be.

“O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8
